The 56-year-old was appointed in late November and tasked with sparking a revival at the Hawthorns, but no such turnaround materialised as he oversaw just one win in the Premier League.
West Brom are 10 points adrift of safety with six games remaining, meaning only a miraculous recovery can save them from Championship football next season.
First-team coach Darren Moore will take temporary charge until further notice, said a club statement, while assistant head coach John Carver has also left.
The statement added: "West Bromwich Albion and Alan Pardew have agreed to mutually part company following discussions between both parties.
"The club would like to thank Alan and John for their efforts and wish them well in their future endeavours."
West Brom host Swansea on Saturday, hoping to end a run of eight consecutive league defeats.
