Javier Hernandez came off for the bench to earn a point for West Ham at Stamford Bridge as they took advantage of a wasteful Chelsea side.
The Blues were dominant for the majority of the match and opened the scoring in the first-half when Cesar Azpilicueta poked home from a corner.
Alvaro Morata, Willian and Eden Hazard linked up brilliantly throughout but the former was called offside twice when he had the ball in the net, with the Blues missing a number of other chances.
They were denied thrice by some fine goalkeeping from Joe Hart, who denied Willian, Marcos Alonso and substitute Olivier Giroud.
And the Hammers got what could prove to be a vital point in their relegation fight when a mistake from Gary Cahill allowed the excellent Marko Arnautovic to tee up Hernandez, with the former Manchester United man gleefully slamming the ball into the net.
